{"id":1033,"date":"2014-07-02T00:00:41","date_gmt":"2014-07-02T00:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.3.4\/?p=1033"},"modified":"2018-01-09T06:49:37","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T14:49:37","slug":"strava-leading-the-pack-in-track-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cloudacm.com\/?p=1033","title":{"rendered":"Strava &#8211; Leading the pack in track data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately, something about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strava.com\/running-app\">Strava<\/a> keeps me coming back for more. \u00a0This personal tracking app that runs on both iPhone and Android makes it a\u00a0snap to log rides. \u00a0It&#8217;s not the simplicity or the details that has my attention, it&#8217;s the unseen potential. \u00a0The off the shelf app and plans offered by Strava don&#8217;t really give the casual onlooker an understanding of this. \u00a0It&#8217;s hidden in the myriad of\u00a0API&#8217;s offered by third party developers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/raceshape.com\/\">RaceShape.com<\/a> has a site\u00a0with\u00a0three tools to enhance your Strava data. \u00a0EREA (Entire Ride Enclosed Area) \u00a0lets you calculate the area inside your Strava tracks. \u00a0SNAP (Strava needs a polish) fills in gaps that are missing from your gps track data. \u00a0VPU (Virtual Partner Uploader) which allows interfacing to Garmin Communicator. \u00a0The support for the <a href=\"http:\/\/labs.strava.com\/heatmap\">Heatmap<\/a> has been moved over to Strava. \u00a0This data shows the popularity of tracks taken by Strava riders.<\/p>\n<p>If you liked that, then this will blow your mind. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/veloviewer.com\/athlete\/3067367\/\">VeloViewer<\/a> is a site that leverages the Strava API to reveal the data in a way that is feature rich. \u00a0 I read this on Ben Lowe&#8217;s site, &#8220;VeloViewer provides fully sortable and filterable lists, maps, graphs and 3d profiles for your full Strava history with more stats than you&#8217;ll know what to do with.&#8221; \u00a0Really, it&#8217;s just that good. \u00a0Strava realizes that your data is important and require authorization before granting access to it from third party API providers. \u00a0Strava made it clear I still can control access with this statement, &#8220;You can revoke access to any application at any time from the Applications tab of your Athlete profile.
