{"id":616,"date":"2014-03-06T02:29:55","date_gmt":"2014-03-06T02:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.3.4\/?p=616"},"modified":"2018-01-09T06:48:49","modified_gmt":"2018-01-09T14:48:49","slug":"in-the-wind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cloudacm.com\/?p=616","title":{"rendered":"In the Wind &#8211; Anemometer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the sensors that I found recently is a wind sensor that could be useful.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had several tracks that I&#8217;ve done and it would&#8217;ve been nice to know what the headwind was.\u00a0 This clever little <a href=\"http:\/\/moderndevice.com\/product\/wind-sensor\/\">sensor from ModernDevices<\/a> looks like it would be up to the task.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen some mention of using Ultrasonic, peizo sensors, and even <a href=\"http:\/\/cires.colorado.edu\/news\/press\/2014\/acousticwind.html\">microphones<\/a>.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s an online demo of a peizo setup.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bOoh2FPdGqg\" height=\"135\" width=\"240\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>ModernDevices mentions this, &#8220;the sensor was glitchy, picked up sound and vibration and was hard to calibrate.&#8221;.\u00a0 The hot wire senors is probably the preferred method at this time as far as cost go.<\/p>\n<p>They go on to say, &#8220;As an experimenters tool, the sensor is exquisitely sensitive, with a small puff of air being sensed at a distance of 18-24?.
