The Panoramic Ball – It’s a toss up.

Never before have I found a device that is unique, yet at the same time being widely offered.  All of the makers claim to be the founders of the technology.  I won’t challenge those claims.  What got me was I found them all one evening in the span of 30 minutes.  I wasn’t even trying to find them, the all knowing algorithm of online search engines brought them to me. You’re always near, even when you’re far…in IR that is.

Cheap camera chops… I found an article written hundreds of years ago about CMOS image sensors requiring near IR filters.  These filters are needed because of the sensing range of CMOS image sensors.  Without the filters, the image processing becomes unstable.  This is because the processing is centered around the human visual sensing range.  So, long story short, 99% of CMOS image sensors come with the filter.  That’s cool I thought, and I proceeded to remove it from my cheap…

Enjoy the silence – rides without the wind noise

That soothing white noise… The sound of wind rushing past while riding has been revered longer than written history might recall.  It’s a kind reminder that I’m moving fast.  When it came to my video recordings, I’m not as fond of it.  The background sound is completely washed out by the wind noise.  It made me think about hearing loss and being distracted from danger.  I ride a lot, so it’s a valid concern.
