Controller of the Sensor Helmet

Controller of the Sensor Helmet

The Arduino Pro Mini will be selected as the controller due to its small size and reliability.  This micro controller is small.  I ordered 2 of them from Sparkfun and they arrived in a few days.  They don’t come with header pins installed.  This is a plus because I have the option to header or wire it in a way the is dictated by the design. Here is a pin out map of the Arduino Pro Mini for reference. I…

Imaging of the Sensor Helmet

Imaging of the Sensor Helmet

The helmet sensor data will be incorporated into mapping and video data for later analysis.  This topic will cover the image and video capture system for the sensor helmet. There will be an action camera that will embedded inside the helmet.  There are 3 current options for action cameras for this purpose. 808-16 Key FOB Camera, 720p – $50 from eBay 808-26 Key FOB Camera, 1080p – $100 from Amazon HackHD Camera, 1080p – $159.95 from Sparkfun I would like…

Sensors of the Sensor Helmet

Sensors of the Sensor Helmet

In my earlier post titled “Designing a Sensor Helmet” I defined the groups that the helmet is comprised of.   Since the main purpose of the helmet was to detect telemetry, this post I will go into more details on the sensor group. The electronic sensors supplied fall into to types, analog (A) and digital (D).  This will determine how the micro controller will read them.  The sensors that will be incorporated into the helmet fall into 4 use categories, these are:…
