Heart of the matter – Bluetooth Low Energy

Heart of the matter – Bluetooth Low Energy

New phone means new things… My Android phone was ridiculously problematic.  The battery life wasn’t reliable and the reception spotty.  I finally conceded and replaced it with a iPhone 4s.  I have a 5s already and use a case on my bike to house it while travelling.  The new phone is a bit shorter than the 5s, so I thought I’d check with the case manufacturer for a 4s case. The manufacturer is Tigra Sports and they offer a variety of…

The Panoramic Ball – It’s a toss up.

The Panoramic Ball – It’s a toss up.

Never before have I found a device that is unique, yet at the same time being widely offered.  All of the makers claim to be the founders of the technology.  I won’t challenge those claims.  What got me was I found them all one evening in the span of 30 minutes.  I wasn’t even trying to find them, the all knowing algorithm of online search engines brought them to me. You’re always near, even when you’re far…in IR that is.

Cheap camera chops… I found an article written hundreds of years ago about CMOS image sensors requiring near IR filters.  These filters are needed because of the sensing range of CMOS image sensors.  Without the filters, the image processing becomes unstable.  This is because the processing is centered around the human visual sensing range.  So, long story short, 99% of CMOS image sensors come with the filter.  That’s cool I thought, and I proceeded to remove it from my cheap…
